|one of the 6 townships of Bury Metro|
STOP PRESS - Bury Libraries/Council have finally put their historical images online at http://www.buryimagebank.org.uk/
On 1st of April 1974 Local Government Boundaries were extensively reorganised.
This was the beginning of BURY Metropolitan Borough.
A 'Heritage Resource' document produced by Bury Metro Council - contains some interesting photos I've not seen anywhere else.
Desk based assessment: Bury Ground, Carlyle Street, Bury, Gtr. Manchester by Peter Cardwell of Archaeo-Environment Ltd. on behalf of the Property Alliance Group prior to development of the area after a site visit of 26th June 2007 (pdf type document so may take a while to load). Page 14 gives a brief overview of this part of South Lancashire during Saxon and Norse (Danish) times, and many more interesting references to local history.

|The owner of this web page was born and bred (some ut se drug up bit scruf ut neck) in Radcliffe in 1948. Originally from Bank Top (Hagside), moving to Spring Lane at the start of school (Radcliffe Parish Church School, Bury Street), ending up on Bolton Road estate before moving to wedded bliss! on the Cams Lane estate in 1973. (A little bit of Radcliffe history in his own right!)|
